At every destination, a wonderful guide met us and with only one very minor exception, they were right on time without ever being reminded and they were so helpful and kind.
Not to mention that the hotels or lodges were exceptional, clean, comfortable and mostly very charming!
The trip went smoothly. The only glitch was our luggage lost for about a day and half before they found it and got it to Ulan Bator. The rail ride was interesting and we met people from all over the world and became good friends with many of them. The food on Tsar’s Gold was better than the Chinese train but after 9 days, it became a little repetitious and could use more spices.
All went well. Guides were all excellent, we thoroughly enjoyed the many golden moments in Irkutsk and at each place we went. Each place we stopped had its own distinct culture and ways of enjoying life:
Nancy and I, with great enthusiasm and appreciation can honestly state that this trip was one of the very best ones we have ever experienced. We have traveled much of the world and have enjoyed all of our trips, however, this one is certainly a "stand out".
I've previously been to China on a Trans-Siberian tour, but this time I decided to the famous Silk Road. I chose the rail tour organized by Travel All Russia and it paid off.
A few words about places I've seen: I liked Ashgabat and the Wedding Palace is extraordinary, Samarkand and Tashkent are stunning.
I chose a rather exotic destination for my vacation but I am not disappointed. I really liked Almaty and the other cities!
I must say this trip to Asia was one of the greatest things in my life.
